CDC is reporting 7,983 hospitalized cases and 522 deaths from H1N1 infection in 53 states and territories (including the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands).
H1N1 (aka Swine Flu) is actively causing illness within the United States. I see a patient every week or 2 who I think might be infected.
Remember, if you become ill with a respiratory illness that makes you extremely ill within a few hours, seek medical care quickly because the medications we can use to treat H1N1 and Influenza will only be effective if started within 48 hours after symptoms start.
