Hi Dr. Nemechek. My question is about my 3yr old boy ASD/SPD/nonverbal. We live in the UK and we started the protocol in July 2018. He gradually built up to 1tsp inulin (uk brand initially but switched recently to NOW ) and NN ultimate omega 5ml……we have seen some gains in receptive language and less negative behaviours (but still nonverbal). BUT, I have realised having re-read your book that i miscalculated the DHA/EPA dose and I’ve been giving him too much over the last few months? So in a panic I’ve dropped the inulin back to 1/2tsp and NN Ultimate… Read more »

hello doctor !! … I would like to start the protocol in my son buy the book and I just read it but I am confused as to the dose that I have to give the child because they always give him the medicines for his weight and not because of his age, I would like to know if it is the same with the protocol or what would be the correct dose for him. He currently weighs 86 pounds and is going to turn 5 in April … thank you very much in advance!

Hello Dr. I am a 30 year old woman with all symptoms of dysautonomia (over 35 on a 24/7 basis) now for 7 years. I would like to start your protocol but i see the book is not out yet. Can i purchase the autism book and follow the same protocol? Or is the protocol different. Thank you

Hi Doctor, I am reading through your book for my ASD son (4.5 Yrs) and its very insightful. Have a few questions, hope you find sometime to provide clarification soon. 1. Is salted/Unsalted butter allowed for cooking or eating? 2. I see that you allowed the Ghee in one of your comments, was there any specific type of ghee that was allowed such as a cow ghee? 3. Are there any diet restrictions such as eating curd which contains natural probiotics? Any other natural occurring eatables that you advise eating against? 4. I am trying out Sulforaphane (broccoli sprouts) and… Read more »

Hello doctor, My son is 11 years old .He is highly verbal with lots of emotional dysregulation and ocd like traits.I started the protocol in December with 1 teaspoon inulin and recommended dose of evoo and fo.After 3 to 4 weeks I noticed a lot of stimming and his transition was better apart from that I did not notice any change in his behaviors in school and at home.oral stimming was non stop,so I reduced the inulin to 1/16 for one month with no change in regulation.Next month I increased to 1/8 and the next month to 1/4 still with… Read more »

Dear Dr. Nemechek, Thank you so much for your protocol! I am working on my chronic hunger and fatigue. Since I started Now inulin ~1and 1/2 teaspoon/day, I see the progress. I tried to add DHA-500 slowly ( one pill a day), however, I experienced dizzy and blood pressure elevation. I am not sure this indicates DHA-500 doesn’t fit me or I just have to try more days? Another question, I went to see a local autonomic specialist. He did tests on me and told me my sympathetic branch having some control issue. He wants me to take Coreg. Can… Read more »

Hello Dr Nemecheck. My 5.5 yr old kid on Autism Spectrum was on full protocol for 6 months when in December she reported stomach ache and got really aggressive and anxious. We stopped the inulin at that point but pain and other behaviors continues. She is in lot of pain on and off all day long. Our Pediatrician and GI specialist did all all sorts of blood, stool tests, xrays and ultrasounds and didn’t find anything. Finally they have agreed to do a round of Rifaximin and see if that helps. However the dose they are prescribing is 200mg 3times… Read more »

Hello Dr. Nemechek! My 8 year old was on 4 Fiber Choice gummies for most of the last year for his inulin dosage. After reading many people sharing that the Now powdered inulin was more effective, I tried switching him to 2 tsp per day. Immediately we saw an increase in aggression, anxiety, a lack of emotional regulation (very weepy, pitching fits over little things), and overall regression. In hopes that maybe this was a second awakening, I persevered for a few weeks, but his increased fight or flight response did not seem to improve. I had read about some… Read more »

I was wondering if there was or likely was damage done to the vagus nerve during surgery, could there still be recovery without VNS? My 2.5yr old son has a very complex medical history but was born with VaCTERL with Caudal Regression Syndrome and diagnosed with moderate ASD, SPD, global developmental delays, completely non-verbal. He had his EA repaired at 5 months old using the Foker Procedure. Had a severe chylothorax leak that require embolization. Had a large hiatel hernia requiring a Nissen. The first Nissen reherniated and had to be redone. During the second Nissen the surgeon stated he… Read more »

Thank you. So would we should wait to see if he stops having gains to potentially explore needing the VNS in the future? On a separate note, my 75 yr old father has dementia which seems to be progressing fairly quickly. After seeing improvements with my son and reading more on our protocol, we have recently started him on it as well. After watching your videos, it appears he may need VNS to see gains. Based on your examples in your video the two men did not improve until they started VNS. Is that fairly common for all dementia cases?… Read more »

Thank you Dr Nemechek for your protocol. It’s an answer to my prayers. My four year old is still not conversational but the gains are amazing. I don’t fret much about the daily setbacks because am hopeful we will get there someday. My question is we have lots of mold at home, would it in anyway affect his progress. He rubs his eyes so frequently. Am doing a lot to clear the molds,. But will they affect his progress?

I have been battling chronic fatigue, headaches, dizziness, brain fog, coat hanger pain, loose stools, heart palpitations for a few years now.

Will this protocol (Xifaxan, and the omega oils you mention) help with healing this? How long does it take to start to notice a turn around in symptoms?

I have tried so many things, and have seen so many doctors and everyone seems clueless.

Hi Dr Nemechek, we have been following the protocol since June 2018 and my daughter is 4 and nonverbal, she is improving in her receptive language. Our biggest struggle besides language communication is she is continuing to have sensory seeking behaviors, mouthing everything even papers now and self-stimulating to the point where she can’t focus on anything else. She’s in ABA, OT and speech. Wondering if there’s anything else we can do to reduce her sensory seeking behaviors? Thank you for everything you do for our kids, we are so grateful.

Dear Dr. Nemechek, My symptoms from “hunger attack” as sweeting, fatigue on arms and legs, dizzy, nausea persist. TUMs helps, so your comment of “a build up of acid in the stomach because your autonomic nervous system is not emptying the stomach“ is so making sense. My order of your book, inulin and DHA fish oil from NOW just arrived. My questions are, 1. I am adult, should I take the dose as indicated on the label of the bottle? Dr. Nemecheck, thank you for everything you are doing for children with autism. We’ve been doing the protocol for a year. My grandson, 4 and a half years old, has shown improvement. Dear Dr Nemecheck I have now ordered and received the Inulin powder from Nows. I was a bit surprised by the text on the Inulin box. It says that “Inulin ….is a soluble prebiotic fiber that is resistant to digestion and reaches the large intestine essentially intact”. it also talks about nourishing the cell lining of the colon. With your metaphore of the fish and birds, I had understood that only the “birds” of the small intestine were fed, and this was moving the “fish” back to the colon. Are both the “birds”(a.k.a lactobacillus?) and “fish”(bifidum?) nourished as well as… Read more »

Hello Dr Nemechek, we have been following the protocol for a year and our child has had a good recovery in language and comprehension.
Already starting to fulfill orders.
We are grateful for everything.
Our child has a very reduced diet for being very selective, takes enough rice milk with hazelnut, bread, apple, banana, ham, cheese,
chicken in small amounts.
At first I ate meat and soup but I refused them.
We are worried our child will not feed well.
What can we do?
Thank you very much for everything.

Hi! Are the Nemechek protocol for autonomic dysfunction and the program for autism and developmental disorders the same thing? I’m about to start the NP for Autism & DD with my son, but I took the checklist quiz for autonomic dysfunction in the appendix of the book and ticked off 13 symptoms and am interested in starting for myself but didn’t see a separate book for the NP for Autonomic dysfunction 🙂

Hello Dr. Nemechek, I have read your book several times and have watch all your YouTube videos, but I can’t seem to find an answer to my question. Dear Dr. Nemecheck, thank you for the book, videos and blog. We are learning a lot from them. I was wondering if you might have some thoughts on the use of hopantenic acid for the treatment of some brain conditions, including autism, which apparently is practiced in Russia and some former Soviet republics. Would that be in line with/ complement your protocol? Would you discourage it? Or perhaps there isn’t enough evidence for or against it? Thank you!
