Psychologists are finding out that even when people try to focus on a task they tend to lose concentration within 40 minutes, and sometimes as little as 10 minutes. The studies are based on a new technique, called transcranial Doppler sonography, that uses ultrasound to monitor blood flow velocity in the brain. The technique could be turned into a warning system for workers who perform critical tasks — such as pilots or air traffic controllers — or even for drivers.

[The low cerebral perfusion pressure described here is the exact phenomena I’ve described in other posts.  It is from the autonomic dysfunction associated with excessive carbohydrate intake.  This dysfunction is termed ‘sympathetic withdrawal’ and results in excessive pooling of blood into the lower extremities especially when sitting still for prolonged periods of time.  The pooling of blood makes it hard for the body to maintain blood pressure to the brain as was noted in this study.

Not enough blood pressure to the brain causes poor brain function.  Cut your carbs to less than 100 grams per day, increase the salt intake for a few weeks and your low blood pressure problems will go away.  This same low blood pressure problem also complicates many other conditions such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease and MS – PMN ]

Doc N.,
Thanks for the blog…keeping us up to date in Kansas City! More and more science is pointing to carb intake as a huge contributor to so many of our health problems. Seems I remember you telling me this (once or twice) years and years ago.
Hope you are well and enjoying the sun. KEEP A HAT ON!
